Why Lindsay Deserves a Boxer Puppy
By Lindsay Allen
Dear Mom,
I deserve a Boxer Puppy for so many reasons, it is un-believeable! I started off on my journey to learn all about the Boxer Dog after I saw Cassies (Cashes). Remeber, I did this when I wanted Muscovy Ducks, aswell - and look how great they turned out to be! My search began online at www.BoxerWorld.com Here, all ready, I have learned SO much! I will share what these people have to say about the Boxer's ups and downs. Enjoy!!
To start off, of everyone on this Boxer web site (over 3 million people), they all say that they would choose no other dog after having a Boxer. One person even said that last year on Animal Planet, the Boxer was rated the #1 Family Dog. That being said, they are excellent with children! They are also good with cats, but because of the Boxer's high energy level and always wanting to play, the cat may just paw him away. They will steal your heart away because of their humane-like personalitites. They know when your sad, happy, bored, mad and any other emotion you are feeling.
Someone on this web site also mentioned that they are a great dog for a teen to own because I (a teen) will learn to be responsible (already am, look at my ducks!), and they are a great dog to talk to because they are very personable.
Not only is everything above great, but they are a great watch dog, without being aggressive. They are extremely entertaining with their funny ways of playing, and becuase of their short coat, little grooming is required. However, their short coat means that they are more sensative to extreme weather, and will need protection from it.
Extra's:::::
Good
+ Very perceptive, they know when you've had a bad day and are always there with a big Boxer hug and wet slobbery kisses.
+ Fun loving
+ Entertaining, a laugh a minute.
+ Good bed warmers
+ Paper shredder
+ They will steal your heart
+ Minimal grooming required
+ Intelligent and easily trained
+ Very entertaining
+ Good watchdog, but not usually aggressive
+ Very Smart! and LOVE to be trained
+ Will Work for Food
+ Can be successfully crate-trained
+ Are wonderful, social beings, but will guard and protect their family
+ VERY expressive- just look at the photos on this site. They have faces that are irresistible!
+Nothing is more entertaining than a Boxer
+Though they can certainly get dirty while playing outside, Boxers are overall a very clean breed. They do not require frequent baths as they groom themselve like cats (usually after you've turned the light off at night lol).
Bad:
- Bad, smelly farts
- Stubborn
- Opinionated
- Climber
- Paper shredder, newspaper, check book, the mail.
- Attack the broom, shovel, rake, mop, lawn mower, vacuum cleaner and any other thing you might use that goes from your hand to the ground. Maddie also will attack the circular saw and chain saw.
- They will steal your heart, your cell phone, remote, and anything else that isn't tied down. If it is tied down, they'll steal the rope.
- can't tolerate extremes in temperatures
- can be destructive if bored
- sloppy eaters/drinkers
- drool
- famous boxer gas
- Prefer human furniture to dog furniture
- love to chase cats and smaller animals
- love to jump (but will get better with age and training )
- everything has been said. Thay can be very naughty. They must be trained to behave. And add yogurt to their diets to help with the bad smells. LOL
Comments from Boxer World People:
+We have a Boxer and a Lab. They are a good combination. Fred is even learning how to be a Boxer.
+Samson has been very good about not really chewing things to bits. He will, however, steal toys or shoes and hide them or begged to be chased!
+I've had a lab, a lab mix and a boxer. I loved my labs & they were great dogs. BUT they were dogs. Boxers are more people than dogs. I swear my Sandy can almost talk to me. Good luck convincing your Mom. Tell her I credit Sandy for helping my son (now 18) grow up and become more responsible. She was a great companion for him when he was grounded for months last year.
+My mum doesnt like animals so it took a lot of persuading for me to get Lily. I stopped asking in the end and just brought Lily home from the pound Even though mum still isnt an animal lover she has to admit that the kidney beans is the best way to arrive home after a long day and the woowooing when mum ignores her cracks us all up. As long as I pick up after her, feed her, pay for her etc she doesnt mind at all (well maybe the slobbers on the glass table ). They are a whole lotta work, but they just make you laugh every day and have so much personality.
