Something is wrong with my cat :?

She's got a patch on her chin where all the hair has fallen out. It looks red raw and lumpy and there is black slimy stuff on there. If we scrape it off it grows back. Mum has been bathing it in very salty water. NExt she's resolved to try dettol, then bleach. I don't want her to put bleach on! It sounds positively barbaric. The only decent vet in the area charges a fortune, so can you think of anything else I can try putting on there before we have to take her to the vet?

Could be an abcess, they usually will heal on their own but you might want to go to the vets. IT could also be because she scratches there a lot?

My cat had this problem on her shoulder. We didn't take her to the vet for a while and it got bad. They popped it (don't worry its not as bad as it sounds ) and she was fine. But I suggest if you don't want it to get worse then visit the vet.
